Welcome to the World!

August 26, 2010

It’s always such a special honor to go into a home to photograph a newborn, especially when the little one is only a week old!  I enjoyed meeting sweet Kaden last week.  He was nice and sleepy for most of my time there, which was great.  He did need a break to eat, so I had a blast with his big sister, Ashley, in the back yard while we waited on him…she was adorable, as you can see below.

Congrats to our friends Scott and Liv on their new addition to one beautiful family!

Meet sweet Mr. Kaden

a very proud daddy

Miss Ashley and I went in the back yard while Kaden ate and she totally charmed me!  Spinning, showing me all of her dance moves:

This child is a knockout!

beautiful.

seriously??  I could have taken her picture all day!

what a great smile!

Then I went inside and got to hang out with sweet Kaden some more.

He’s just perfect.

Oh, the adorableness was abounding…

He didn’t mind being in a bowl…

It even made him smile just a little.

A sweet moment with daddy…

and mommy…

and finally, with big sis, who is so proud.  Such a great family!

Welcome to the world, Kaden.  We’re glad you’re here!

Catherine and Jay met in college at CU-Boulder.  Fast-forward approximately a decade, she is a successful attorney, he is a successful engineer.  They meet again, and sparks fly.  These two world travelers planned an incredibly beautiful wedding celebration at Ten Mile Station in Breckenridge, Colorado, and I was thrilled to be able to capture their day.  Everything was perfect, from the brightly-colored flowers, to the weather (just a few quick sprinkles before the ceremony, then party-cloudy skies for the remainder), to the outstanding food, to the Bluegrass band and dancing into the night.  They obviously adore one another, and I kept finding them sneaking in cute glances at each other. It was quite simply a fabulous, perfect wedding.  I am excited to present them with these images…and there are many, so get cozy and enjoy!

Umm, did I mention that Ten Mile Station, located on Peak 9 in Breckenridge, is awesome with views to die for?

The details were amazing and so colorful!

I love this shot of Catherine as her dress was fastened up.

Ah, the anticipation…champagne…last minute primping…

…and some more champagne!

simply gorgeous bride

Catherine, you are stunning!

enjoying some laughs on the ski slope before the ceremony

Jay and the guys were as cool as could be.

Hello, fabulous ceremony location.

Husband + Wife!

We enjoyed lots of yummy light for the portraits!

They are so sweet together!

It was time to head inside and let the dinner and dancing begin!

some heartfelt toasts…

a fun first dance…

…a very cute and meaningful father-daughter dance, lots more dancing and a sparkler farewell.  It was a fabulous wedding!

And I will end on this one:  Catherine and Jay’s way-too-cute Yorkie, Winston, was even there, dressed to the nines.  :)

Congratulations, Catherine and Jay!  I am so glad I got to document your day!  Enjoy the rest of your adventure in Africa!

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of flying to Boise, ID to do the one-year photos for my dear friend’s little boy.  Oh my.  He is so cute, so smart (not a surprise, given his parents both are Ph.D.’s), and just a pleasure to be around.  I stayed with them for the weekend, and had to pull out my camera on several occasions to capture his cuteness.  I also got some good down time with my friend, and really enjoyed Boise.  There is an amazing running/biking trail just outside their house that goes for miles and miles, so I enjoyed some good runs.  We went downtown for dinner one evening, and I had the biggest, best bacon cheeseburger west of the Mississippi.  All in all, it was an awesome trip, and I was so thankful for the time with my friend, her husband, and their little cutie.  If only my guys had been there!

This was shortly after my arrival – he wasn’t too sure about me yet!

Showing off his “SO BIG” moves for me.

I love this collage.  You can see that he warmed up to me!

They have an awesome little stream behind their house, so we had the little guy sit in the grass.  He was mesmerized!

These next few family shots are so fun.

I’ll end with these two – playing in his nursery. :)

Oh baby!

July 15, 2010

I’ve been neglecting my blog again, but the reasons have been good…a lot of work, and oh yeah, a baby!  The title of this post is appropriate, because today I heard my THIRD baby’s heartbeat for the first time.  Yes, you read right, I am expecting a new little one in January.  I don’t care who you are or what situation you’re in, to hear the sound of your baby’s heart is simply mind-blowing and always emotional for me.  I can’t believe we’re going to add to the craziness of our already busy household, but I know that God must have something in mind for us by letting this happen!

So, with babies on my mind, I wanted to do a long-overdue post of sweet baby Olivia and her big brother, Logan.   Logan charmed me from the moment I entered their home, singing songs, running around, and talking away.  Olivia, who her parents said had always been sleepy, decided to be wide awake for me!  I took advantage and captured those beautiful eyes.  I wonder if they’ll be as blue as her big brother’s!  They are gorgeous!!

Is this one handsome older brother, or what?!

Beautiful girl, ready to greet the world.

I love this little collage.

I also love this one: I think they’re trying to figure each other out.

sweet little girl

April 18, 2010

I love newborns…their smells, their sounds, their sweetness.  I got the honor of photographing this sweet little one yesterday and I am so thankful for the opportunity!  She was so beautiful and let us know a few times when she was ready for a break.  :)   I am so in love with many of these photos…enjoy!

Look at those beautiful eyes!  It’s like she’s pondering something pretty important here.

does it get any sweeter than this?!?

I love how her little hands are folded so nicely here!

Blue Eyes

April 10, 2010

My little godson has the most beautiful blue eyes.  I was so excited to capture them – as you can see, they are striking!  Not too surprisingly, I really love the black & whites I got here, too.  He is a sweetie!  I posted one photo from his one-year session last Friday – here are the rest.  Enjoy!

Snack time!

This one cracks me up.  We were pretty much done shooting at this point, and he had gotten a cracker or two.  It’s like he’s saying, “Seriously?  Haven’t  you gotten enough yet?”  Little does he know, my camera and I will be following him for years to come!

Happy weekend,

happy GOOD Friday!

April 2, 2010

So, I cannot believe it is already Friday.  My boys had spring break from childcare/preschool this week, which left me with one less day to work.  I spent my one work day doing what seemed to be all busy work (boring!), but I think in the end I will be thankful I did it!  It’s never fun to spend precious work time backing up images, ordering new supplies for the office, etc., but it as to be done!

I LOVE Easter and I hope you all have a lovely one.  I am celebrating the gift of eternal life (and the joy and peace that come with it) that Jesus gave us this weekend!  Hooray!

I am going to end on a very cute note – a photo of my sweet godson, who I photographed a little while ago.  I hope to post some more images from his session soon, but until then, check out these BLUE eyes!  Love them, and I love him!!

Happy Easter weeekend,

miss g   :)

blond beauties

February 26, 2010

I was recently given the opportunity to photograph the two kids of one of my dearest friends.  They are precious and I couldn’t wait to do it.  Unfortunately, it’s been so cold and nasty here that it’s been hard to do any sessions outside.  Thankfully, my house has a lot of great window light and with my black backdrop, voila!  Some beautiful portraits and no need to freeze our buns off!  I love these kiddos!  They enjoyed the leftover balloons from Austin’s birthday party, as you can see.

Are you kidding me with her eyes?  I swear I did not do anything special to them.

What a little beauty this girl is!

Mama even got in on this one!  :)   She is always playing with them like this…so cute.

Okay, off to bed, hopefully I can post more tomorrow!

first steps!

February 22, 2010

A week or so ago, we had our son Austin’s FOURTH birthday party at our house (how is he already four years old?!).  We hosted several 3- & 4-year-olds, much to Austin’s delight.  It was a lot of fun, and I will blog about our two boys’ birthdays soon, but I wanted to do a quick post about our sweet little godson.  His parents came to help us with the party (their older son was one of the “big kids” there), and they brought the little guy, too.  He was about to turn one year old in a few days, and he decided to bust out some of his first steps for me to capture!  His mommy and I were thrilled that, in the midst of the chaos, he walked a good distance in our dining room and into the kitchen area.  I happened to have my camera in hand, and captured the following pictures.  How fun to be there for some of his first steps!  We love this little guy, and can’t believe he’s already one!  Way to go, little buddy!  We love you!

More soon,

hello, new blog!

February 21, 2010

So, I am finally getting this new blog online.  I must say, this decision to make a new web site and blog was a big one, but now that I look back, I am glad I took the plunge!

Here are some photos from a recent shoot with one of my favorite little guys.  I shot his newborn and six month pictures (Parents, contact me for info on the “as they grow” program!  You get discounts for three sessions within a year, and a fun keepsake photo book when it’s all done.), and this was our last session together for a while.  He turned one and was running all over the place.  I am sad that I now have to wait until he is two to take his pictures again, but I am looking forward to it already!  Until next time, little CG!

I love this one!

I adore these, but this one is especially sweet to me!

Love that smile!

He found our little slide and had some fun!

Precious.  And I totally love that he’s rockin’ the Chuck Taylors!  :)

Until next time,

miss g
