Hello to all my blog followers (all two of you – hi, Mom!)!

My apologies for the lack of posts recently.  Between a cruel winter when someone at my house was sick nearly every day since the beginning of December and the busy life of a mom of three, as well as photo shoots and editing, my blog updates fell by the wayside…but I figure it is time to start up again and revamp my business…watch for a new logo and a fresh look to my web site soon.  And what better subject to blog on than a fabulous recent learning experience I had?

I had the pleasure of traveling a little over a week ago to the studio of the AMAZING Kelley Ryden just outside of Omaha, NE.  She is one of the top newborn photographers in the country (and world!).  I have been adding more baby posing to my newborn sessions (but never fear, I will always offer my more photojournalistic-style shooting, too), and figured it couldn’t hurt to learn from the BEST about ways I can improve, so I signed up for her workshop.  She did not disappoint.  I was so impressed by her ability to calm and pose the newborns (along with her equally impressive sister, Tracy).  A few people have called me the “Baby Whisperer” after watching me in action with newborns, but these two really are amazing.  I hope I can get to their caliber of baby whispering some day.  :)

It was an awesome, overwhelming, super informative day.  Without further ado, here are some photos I took of the two SWEETIES we photographed that day.

Oh, so much fun!

My little girl

June 23, 2011

My sweet little girl is already five months old…it is going way too fast!

I love the drool on her chin here.

My sweet baby!

Just had to share!

Love,

miss g

I am finally returning to my blog, after quite a hiatus.  But the hiatus was for good reason:  January 17, Ryan and I welcomed our much-anticipated third baby, a girl, who we named Vivienne Kate.  I was extremely surprised, as I was expecting a boy.  I cried and cried tears of joy when the doctor handed her to me.   She was so tiny compared to my boys, and such a content little newborn.  Now she is six weeks old and is still proving to be easy for the most part.  She likes to sleep (though not quite long enough at night for my liking), has smiled at us several times, and her parents and brothers are just smitten with her.  :)

Introducing my sweet little girl…

Daddy and Vivi meeting for the first time.

So tiny.

It was much harder shooting newborn photos of my own baby than shooting them for my clients…but of course, I still managed to get some!

Yes, I have a thing for newborn feet…they are just so adorable!

I am sure there will be more to come!

Maybe it is because I am anticipating the arrival of my third baby in a couple of months and a new niece OR nephew sometime this month, but this newborn session was such a joy for me…I loved holding this tiny, sweet little girl and hanging out with her awesome parents (I went to college with her dad!).  She arrived early, and though she was three weeks old for this shoot, she was still so tiny.  Everything about this shoot was great, and I am so excited to share these sneak peeks with her parents!

So cozy!

This girl has some cool parents who definitely adore her!  :)

Don’t miss the bloomers.  Precious!

Love these shots of mom & dad taking in their little girl…

One final close up.  Perfection.

Zach and Francine, I can’t wait for you to see the entire collection – very soon!

Love,

miss g

This fun family is special to me: Ryan and I have been friends with Jimmy, the dad, since college.  We were friends then, and somehow we all ended up in Denver despite mid-western roots.  Ry and I were at the party Jimmy and Amanda, his wife, went to on their first date, and I remember liking her immediately.  We enjoyed their mountain wedding a few years ago.  Now, years later, they are parents to one ADORABLE little guy who completely rocked this photo shoot.  I was impressed by his big, abundant smiles and sweet demeanor.  I am so happy for them and loved so many of their photos that I had to do a few story boards to incorporate more of them into my blog!

How much fun are they?!

Can you say “gorgeous?”  Love this one – even the sweet doggie cooperated!

This is one handsome little guy – I can’t get enough of those blue eyes and big smiles!

I know I’ve already mentioned how fun they are, but here are a couple more examples – this little guy is in for some good times!

Finally, I had to show these sweet daddy/son moments…great times!

Jimmy and Amanda, thanks so much for the honor of capturing your beautiful family in photos.  It was such fun!

sweet siblings

When the mom of these three adorable kids contacted me for photos, I was so excited.  We’ve known them for a few years now, and they are all just beautiful.  They recently added a third baby – a boy – to the family, and he is well-loved by his two big sisters!  I had a blast with them recently, as you can see below.  Enjoy!

The girls started out by showing me their play room – which had some lovely light.

Here is the oldest telling me about her favorite toys.  I love those lashes!

Gorgeous little sister was curious about my camera!  Those eyes are stunning.

More lovely lashes…

Look at this guy – he could not be any cuter!

I had to do a story board of each child because there were just too many fun shots!  Here is the little charmer.

This girl is simply adorable!

Beautiful and sweet oldest sister…

These photos below totally crack me up – you never know what you’re going to get with three little ones! (Don’t worry, mom, we did get some of them all looking at the camera – this just made me laugh!)

Sweet sister moments!

What a fun session!  I am so thankful that I get to spend my work time with people like them!

Welcome to the World!

August 26, 2010

It’s always such a special honor to go into a home to photograph a newborn, especially when the little one is only a week old!  I enjoyed meeting sweet Kaden last week.  He was nice and sleepy for most of my time there, which was great.  He did need a break to eat, so I had a blast with his big sister, Ashley, in the back yard while we waited on him…she was adorable, as you can see below.

Congrats to our friends Scott and Liv on their new addition to one beautiful family!

Meet sweet Mr. Kaden

a very proud daddy

Miss Ashley and I went in the back yard while Kaden ate and she totally charmed me!  Spinning, showing me all of her dance moves:

This child is a knockout!

beautiful.

seriously??  I could have taken her picture all day!

what a great smile!

Then I went inside and got to hang out with sweet Kaden some more.

He’s just perfect.

Oh, the adorableness was abounding…

He didn’t mind being in a bowl…

It even made him smile just a little.

A sweet moment with daddy…

and mommy…

and finally, with big sis, who is so proud.  Such a great family!

Welcome to the world, Kaden.  We’re glad you’re here!

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of flying to Boise, ID to do the one-year photos for my dear friend’s little boy.  Oh my.  He is so cute, so smart (not a surprise, given his parents both are Ph.D.’s), and just a pleasure to be around.  I stayed with them for the weekend, and had to pull out my camera on several occasions to capture his cuteness.  I also got some good down time with my friend, and really enjoyed Boise.  There is an amazing running/biking trail just outside their house that goes for miles and miles, so I enjoyed some good runs.  We went downtown for dinner one evening, and I had the biggest, best bacon cheeseburger west of the Mississippi.  All in all, it was an awesome trip, and I was so thankful for the time with my friend, her husband, and their little cutie.  If only my guys had been there!

This was shortly after my arrival – he wasn’t too sure about me yet!

Showing off his “SO BIG” moves for me.

I love this collage.  You can see that he warmed up to me!

They have an awesome little stream behind their house, so we had the little guy sit in the grass.  He was mesmerized!

These next few family shots are so fun.

I’ll end with these two – playing in his nursery. :)

Oh baby!

July 15, 2010

I’ve been neglecting my blog again, but the reasons have been good…a lot of work, and oh yeah, a baby!  The title of this post is appropriate, because today I heard my THIRD baby’s heartbeat for the first time.  Yes, you read right, I am expecting a new little one in January.  I don’t care who you are or what situation you’re in, to hear the sound of your baby’s heart is simply mind-blowing and always emotional for me.  I can’t believe we’re going to add to the craziness of our already busy household, but I know that God must have something in mind for us by letting this happen!

So, with babies on my mind, I wanted to do a long-overdue post of sweet baby Olivia and her big brother, Logan.   Logan charmed me from the moment I entered their home, singing songs, running around, and talking away.  Olivia, who her parents said had always been sleepy, decided to be wide awake for me!  I took advantage and captured those beautiful eyes.  I wonder if they’ll be as blue as her big brother’s!  They are gorgeous!!

Is this one handsome older brother, or what?!

Beautiful girl, ready to greet the world.

I love this little collage.

I also love this one: I think they’re trying to figure each other out.

I love newborns…their smells, their sounds, their sweetness.  I got the honor of photographing this sweet little one yesterday and I am so thankful for the opportunity!  She was so beautiful and let us know a few times when she was ready for a break.  :)   I am so in love with many of these photos…enjoy!

Look at those beautiful eyes!  It’s like she’s pondering something pretty important here.

does it get any sweeter than this?!?

I love how her little hands are folded so nicely here!
